Refugee Lullaby Project

This song was written in the hope of getting people to think about the reasons why people would leave their homes and travel hundreds of miles in life -threatening conditions. The idea to release the song to raise a bit of cash to help these brave people, was a result of seeing the brilliant work that The Refugee Community Kitchen are doing in Calais and Dunkirk, where a bunch of ordinary people, with no backing from any official body, are feeding about 2000 refugees a day. There are many more people who still need feeding. The idea to open it up so that anyone can add their voice is a response to the huge number of people who feel that they are not being listened to, that there is no way to be heard. Folk music has always had an import and lasting role to play, in getting the voice of the people heard. (I would never have passed my History O´Level if it was not for folk music) For the 12 days of Christmas, I have been collecting recordings of people playing and singing this song, by email and by driving round and recording people, and mixing them together to make this track. I loved every minute of it and would happily have just gone on adding voices for ever. You can hear the 12 day progression of the track, from a single voice to a choir of people on the Rrrip Records Bandcamp Page https://rrriprecords.bandcamp.com/album/refugee-lullaby You can now download the track for free from Soundcloud and Bandcamp but please make a donation to The Refugee Community Kitchen here www.youcaring.com/refugee-community-kitchen-474904 Thank you to all the artists who took part.
